Ah, the age-old debate, blue v.s green, good v.s, evil, etc. When people think about this they usually think about two communities arguing all the time over which console is better. It’s true, people always argue over which one is better. The argument has basically been around since day one and it isn’t going to stop any time soon. Personally, I like PlayStation better than Xbox but that’s just my opinion. If you like Xbox that’s fine but today I’m going to tell you why in my opinion PlayStation is better.
Reason # 1 Controllers
Controllers are essential for consoles, they can make or break the console. The controllers for the PS4 and Xbox one are very different in function and design. Take for example where the joysticks are located on the controller, the PS4 controller has them both side by side and the Xbox has one on the bottom right and one on the top left of the controller. The PS4 controller might sound comfier to you, but the Xbox controller is still nice.
The real difference between the 2 controllers is how they get their power. The PlayStation controller charges whereas the Xbox controller uses batteries. This might not sound like a huge difference but I assure you it is. In my opinion, the PlayStation controller gets the better of the Xbox controller because you don’t have to go get new batteries if you want to continue using the controller, you just plug it in. Also, the PlayStation controllers have a cool light on the back which looks good while you’re playing.
Reason #2 Games
Like I’ve mentioned before games are an essential part of the console as well. Without good games, you might as well just not even buy the console in the first place. Both Xbox and PS4 have lots of great games but for this section, I’m just going to be looking at the exclusive games. For Xbox, you have Halo, Gears of War, Forza, and Roblox are some of the big games. For PS4 however, you have MLB, Marvel’s Spiderman, Final Fantasy, God of war, Gran Turismo Sport, and Horizon Zero Dawn. Those are some of the main franchises exclusive to either Xbox or PlayStation. I think that despite having some great exclusives the PlayStation wins again because of the huge variety in exclusive games.
Reason # 3 Players and Sales
The 3rd reason why I think PlayStation is better is its players and sales. Now sales aren’t necessarily the most accurate judgement if a console is good or not, however, it is a sign on whether people who bought it liked it. The Xbox and PlayStation are very separated in sales with the PlayStation selling 90+ million copies and the Xbox One only sold 30+ million copies. The active players on PS4 are a lot more than the ones on Xbox as well meaning that more people lay PlayStation. Having more active players is better because if you are playing an online game you need other players to be online as well. Since the PS4 has more active players it means you are more likely to get into games/lobbies faster than the Xbox.
Reason # 4 Price
Now for the price, the PlayStation was dropped recently from $449 to $429, whereas the Xbox is $500. Now saving $80 is a big deal for anything because, well $80 is $80. If you had to choose a console solely based on the price the PS4 would be the one you choose. Heck even if you weren’t basing it off just the price by now you would probably be buying the PlayStation.
